How To Make Old Clothes Into New Fashions
I chose this topic for my Girl Scout project because I LOVE fashion and clothes. I think that dressing nice makes people feel good and sometimes you have something fancy and don’t even know it.
I am going to show you how to recycle and reuse your old clothes to make new ones. Some of these you can even wear normally or the way I will show you.
Turn Pajama Pants into a Fancy Dress
Maybe not as easy as magical as my video but all you need to do is grab any pair of stretchy long pants. Make sure you can fit into one of the legs because not all pants will work unless they are good and stretchy.
1. Slide into one of the legs.
2. Pull the waist band up to get one arm into the second leg.
3. Pull up the bottom to the hight you want just above the knee
4. Rock it!
Turn any T-short into a Fancy Dress
Again not as magical as my video but all you need to do is grab any t-short maybe from an older sister or mom. You have to just be sure that when the neck hole is pulled up just under your armpits that it stays.
1. Put the shirt on normally
2. Instead of putting your arms through the arm holes put them through the neck hole.
3. tuck the sleeves in so they aren’t hanging out.
4. Rock it!
This goes best with a nice belt and a light cover up 🙂
Turn a large scarf into a Fancy Dress
This one I admit needs to be a specific kind of scarf like the one in my video but you can just find a large piece of cloth and do this if you want :). This dress is the fanciest of them all but takes a little more work.
1. Find the shorter side and tie the 2 corners together.
2. Make sure the hole is big enough to slip over your head
3. Grab both sides at your waist and lift it up to your chest.
4. Wrap it around behind you and tie that into a knot.
5. Fancy! Fancy!
Date night with Daddy 🙂
Turn any T-short into a Fancy Scarf
This is the only one that you have to actually cut up the shirt you are using. I like to make sure that you can still use a shirt as a shirt and a dress or whatever but this is a really nice scarf you can make with one of your dad’s old t-shirts instead of him using it as a rag 🙂
1. Lay the short down flat
2. Cut a straight line just under the arms (get a parent to do it if you need to)
3. Let dad use the arms as a rag 🙂
4. Keep the bottom part you cut and cut small strips along one side.
5. Hows it look? Fancy right!
This one is the best example of recycling because you actually are creating a whole new piece of clothing.
